hello everybody ,

i have a jackson rr3 with an invader in the bridge...
any suggestion for the neck with good clean sound and warm solos but to combine with invader and will not have voloume problems when select pickups.

thank you

Re: what pickup for neck ???

Depends really, will the pickup be used more-so for just clean and the occasional solo or more-so for soloing?

The Distortion is the first thing to pop into my head but it might be a little dull for sweeter chiming cleans. The Full shred is a little more open and a little less warm in the low/low mids.

The 59 might also be something you wanna look at.

Invader Neck!

I mean...I have a Full Shred Set and I would be hard pressed to find a better combination than that! The Invader Neck is meant to be used along with the Invader bridge.

I advise against the '59, Jazz, Full Shred neck or other "weak" neck pickups.

IMO good suggestions would be :
- Screamin' Demon in the neck
- JB in the neck
- Distortion Neck model (even though it's still pretty weak)

Welcome to the forum.
Some guitars have a stronger sound at the neck than others. If yours does than many lower output pickups will work just fine. That said I think the Distortion or Full shred necks may be what your after. I found the Invader neck to be way to muddy for me but if your axe is bright enough it might work.

Certainly not the Invader neck. What a waste of space.

Id say get a 59. But I'd really say get a DiMarzio PAF (not PAF Pro).

I had an RR3, tried a variety of pickups in it, only really liked the Blackouts. But that was before I found the DMZ PAF.

get yourself a nice high-gain tube amp instead of your solid state Peavey, listen carefully what you don't like about your current pickup(s), try to get some knowledge about how to adjust and matching pickups (height, output, EQ etc.) and then come back to ask again.

Re: what pickup for neck ???

you'll be pleasantly surprised with the jb in the neck. i had it in a greco v with the invader bridge. the lowered bass and bumped up high mids of the jb suited the neck position (read more lows, low mids with less highs) perfectly for warm fluid leads.

cleans do suffer a bit especially with tube amps with low headroom but there's nothing a roll of the volume knob can't solve. also, the jb sounds almost single coil-like in the neck position when split.

fwiw, do spend a little time on adjusting the neck pickup's height especially using high output humbuckers in the neck.
