What Pot Value for HSS - JB +2 Quarter Pounds

I plan to put new pickups in an older Mexi Strat. I've settled on JB in the bridge, Quarter Pounders neck and middle.

On my other JB equipped guitars I use 500k pots and like how they sound but none have a single coil in them. With the neck and middle pickups being single coil, I'm not sure if I should still stick with 500k pot. I definitely don't want a muddy tone but I also don't want my single coils to be overly bright.

I've also read I could put a resistor on the switch so when either of the single coils are selected they will 'see' 250k. Is this true? How do I do that?

Any suggestions?

Also, I do a fair bit of volume roll off/clean up. Do I want linear taper or Audio taper? It seems I'd want audio but I'm not really up on what's what.

Thanks for your help.

You must be thinking of using 470k resistor with a 500k pot to make the singles to see a 250k pot.

I prefer audio taper for volume but that jusy my 2 cents
