What pots to use?

Hey guys, I'm in the process of getting new pickups for my Strat. I already recieved my DiMarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues but I'm still waiting on the Duncan Hot Rails and Lil' Screamin' Demon. I'm not sure which pots I should use because technically the Duncans are Humbuckers and the DiMarzio is a single...so should I use 250K or 500K? Also, I want to get the Graph Tech Ghost Piezo Saddles too but I'm not sure of the best way to set up the electronics. Should I get a Blend pot for the Master Volume and have 1 Tone for the Piezo and the other for the Mags? Should I have 1 Volume for Mags and 1 for the Piezo, with 1 for the Mags? Should I use the Quick Switches? I really need your help on this one guys, thanks a lot. Marc

i find its best using 250k pots for single coils and 500k pots for humbuckers, i would research deaper into finding out how bright the humbuckers are and if theyre too harsh. ive got a PG and its probably the brightest vintage output standard hb sd makes, and i use 500k pots with it and LOVE IT

Re: What pots to use?

I was contemplating something similar with an HSS/Ghost setup(except the singles would be "stacked" humbuckers) and I was going with a triple concentric pot setup.
IIRC, someone makes a 500k/250k pot that, it seems to me anyway, would allow for appropriate dual volume control for what you want to do.

Yea, I know that most people find that 500K is best with hb's and that 250K is best with sc's....I just wasnt sure which ones I should use because 2 of my pickups are hb's and 1 is sc. Plus, the whole Piezo thing just makes everything that much harder on top of everything..

Re: What pots to use?

OR, instead of the 250K and 500K should I use the 25K from StewMac? Its supposed to be used after the preamp of piezos and whatnot. Please help me out here. :fingersx:

Re: What pots to use?

PLEASE?! My Duncans just came in but I havnt picked them up yet. I want to get everythin installed at once, for the most part but I cant really have the pickups put in unless I have the right electronics, and I dont know what to do unless someone helps me out so could someone please help me out here? Thanks, Marc

Re: What pots to use?

I can't answer on the piezo pickup but definitely DO NOT use 25k's for the passive pickups. They will sound like pure mud.

As to whether 250k or 500k, it's really a matter of taste. Try the Duncans with the pots you have in the guitar now and go from there.

Re: What pots to use?

The 250k pots will work with the HR. I thought that switching to 500k gave them more clarity. But it's not as though the 250k pots were a "problem."

What about using 500k on the volume and the tone pot for the mid, and a 250k for the tone pot for the neck?

I guess that could work but I'm also getting the GraphTech Ghost Saddles and I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to set up the electronics. Should I use a Blend pot for the master volume, and have a Tone for the Mags and another for the Piezo? Or should I have one Tone, one volume for the Mags and another volume for the Piezo? I've asked this everywhere and no one can seem to answer me Lol. Thanks, Marc

Re: What pots to use?

is this guitar gonna have dual outputs? run one into your amp (the magnetics) and one into the mixing board(the piezo) might make the whole set up more flexible.
