What scale length are acoustics usually?

Just wondering if there was anything ala the fender/gibson thing with scale lengths on acoustics with certain brands.

Re: What scale length are acoustics usually?

i *think* they were always 24 3/4 and epiphone/gibson just went from there

might be wrong though

Re: What scale length are acoustics usually?

Hmm I compared mine to my 25.5 and it's more then that.. at least on mine perhaps it is a freak guitar =)

Re: What scale length are acoustics usually?

Martin Dreadnoughts are 25.5" and project well; their small bodies, like 0, 00, 000, etc. are short scale, easier for fingerpicking

Re: What scale length are acoustics usually?

Most acoustics on the market have a 25 1/2. Of couse, you can find many other scale lengths. I play a short scale acoustic. Maybe you should tell us what your looking for.

Re: What scale length are acoustics usually?

I'm not looking for anything in particular it was just something I was wondering about... I'm pretty sure my ibanez acoustic is a shorter scale length than my strats looking at them so it got me thinking :D

Re: What scale length are acoustics usually?

Most acoustics are around 25.5 (ie., Guild 25 5/8", Martin dreadnoughts and OM's are 25.4").

Short scale acoustics are in the minority and are approximately 24 3/4" scale length (ie., Martin traditional 000's at 24.9 ", Gibson J-45 and -50's at 24 3/4" and Seagull at 24.8").
