I’ve just placed an order for a Saturday Night Special Trembucker and would like to know what single-coils to use with it. I play an American Fender Stratocaster Deluxe HSS configured.
Body wood: Heavy One-piece alder
Neck: Maple
Fretboard: Maple
Today it has Bill Lawrence SCN single-coils in the middle and neck positions and I think they sound great. But I’m after some replacements for it with a tad more output.
The EQ-curve suits me fine though. What Seymour Duncan single-coils would you guys recommend using together with the Saturday Night Special in the bridge position?
It would be great if I can get a Steve Ray Vaughn bluesy tone but I’d also like to get close to Yngwie Malmsteen territory…and last but not least, I like the smooth and warm tone of the Mike Landau single coils.
What single-coils comes closest to my needs and whishes? I’m not into single-coil sized humbuckers. Noiseless is a plus but not a must. Tone comes first.
What pots are you recommending for the setup? Any schematic? I’m thinking about getting a push/pull for being able to split the bridge pickup.
