what the difference between a SH-2 nickel plated with the plastic covered?

Whats the differnce between a nickel plated pickup and a plastic
covered guitar pickup?

Like for example, the seymour duncan sh4 and sh2. I know these models
are sold in plastic casing or in metal casing for aesthetic purposes
but does the metal casing helps more on the grounding. well, generaly
metal is a conductor while plastic is an inductor.. Does the metal
casing has an effect on the sound? Could it significantly suppress
feedback or static?

In terms of precision and fine-tuning, is there a "minmal" differnce
between the two in terms of tone or clarity, or they just only differ
with their looks?

Do you think that a seymour duncan sh-4 with metal casing would sound warmer than a sh-4 with a plastic one? they would sound slighlty differnt even if they are modeled the same a.k.a. sh-4? thanks for your help

Re: what the difference between a SH-2 nickel plated with the plastic covered?

The nickel cover is specifically designed to have as little impact on the tone of the pickup as possible, however, there is probably a small amount of the higher frequencies that get canceled out, or filtered out by it.

If you have a pickup with the metal cover and take the metal cover off, the pickup underneath is just like a normal pickup, no difference in construction. They simply take a standard pickup with plastic bobbins and slip a nickel cover over it.

I think the biggest impact a nickel cover has on tone is the fact that because of the cover, you can't get the pickup itself quite as close to the strings as you can an uncovered one. This typically affects only the bridge pickup, or those folks who like the pickup to almost touch the strings...but that's another debate entirely.

The difference in tone is almost non existent. You can expect the same tone from an SH-4 either covered or uncovered.
