What the hell is this?

Re: What the hell is this?

Solid state, supposed to emulate tubes or something. I can't stand them and I've never met anyone who really liked them. I'm not saying it's a bad amplifier, just didn't fit the bill of anyone I know.

Re: What the hell is this?

Re: What the hell is this?

Those were mini stack heads that came out around 84-86. They were the budget stack of the JCM 800 line, since they were 3/4 size and solid state.
If you noticed, the Jubilee also included the mini stack line, only they had the same tube circuit as the bigger fullstacks. MOSFET Mini stacks didn't last long....they kind of evolved into the Valvestate line.

Stacks = fullsize
Mini stacks = 3/4 size
Micro stacks = the little tiny stacks - Lead 12 SS.

Re: What the hell is this?

I've also seen (only once or twice) full size solid state "JCM 800" heads.

Never played through one through.

Re: What the hell is this?

You'd think Marshall would have been ashamed to put the JCM800 badge on it. It's misleading if nothing else.

Yes--they preceded the Valvestate stuff. IMHO the Valvestate amps are way better than these.
