I sold an analog octave pedal on ebay and now the dumb (female dog) has left me bad feedback ruining my perfect name because she's to ignorant to understand how an analog octave effect works.

She says "the pedal doesn't work because sometimes the sound gets glitchy"

Hello you dumb (female dog) its an analog octave effect, of course it can start to glitch

Did I suggest she use the neck pup, play carefully, use a comp etc etc ? Yep

Did I show her hundreds of HC reviews that talk about tracking issues with octave pedals ? Yep

But what does she do, leaves me negative feedback and with Ebay's BS policy, now I can't even defend myself

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

see thats why ebay policy sucks. now youll get a-holes not thinking twice about firing off negatives casue therer no consequences.
Can you even leave comments in your responce anymore?
Sorry to hear that. You got a real bad egg there.

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

Nope, your not allowed to even respond to the comment to defend yourself.

I emailed ebays feedback fraud dept trying to explain the situation.

I can product literally hundreds of reviews, video clips etc that all show what she's seeing is normal behavior.

This is as stupid as someone buying a distortion pedal and then complaining it doesn't give them a nice clean sound and leaving negative feedback because theres something wrong with the pedal.

add to that the fact that you have lots of schmuck now with much better feedback due to the fact that their negatives have been erased and its frightening.
Best sell from here on out with the idea that you will get a negative. thats a safe assumption considering most buyers suffer from remorse and regret spending their money anyhow, and will likely blame the seller for the least litle discrepancy in the advertisemnet, or failing that, they will invent something like your buyer.
Just a total fiasco. What do i know? Im only at 392 with a 98%( 100% now with th Ebay purge of negative feedback).
Ask some of the other dudes here with 20-30 sales or purchases and they will readily defend the new policy. Most likely cause they tend to be schmucks that will benefit from that policy in the first place.

Talk about refunds. This could be that Bas*t*rd ebay CEO's way to try and boost sales of his ebay negative feedback retraction service( 10 bucks).Either that or some scheme to adversely affect or even invalidate feedback all together and make in inconseqential & kind of irrelevant to the sales process. This must be advantageous in some way to them.

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

Wow, that completely sucks! I used to have the boss octave pedal (the brown one, forget the model number) and it did exactly what you described all the time...especially with the 2 octave down dialed up. I just figured it was a crappy design and used it sparingly. It's not a pedal I miss, but I didn't take it back to the store thinking it was defective. What a tool that chick must be.

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

Jeff, here in the UK you CAN appeal against bad feedback and sometimes get it removed. As long as you have all the communication and can prove that the pedal is all good, you may be able to get it removed. I would contact Ebay... they were quite helpful to me and responded VERY quickly. Hope you get it sorted, all the best. Don.

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

So, if it is common knowlege that these pedals, including the one you sold, have a tendency to do this, why didn't you say that in the original ad. Then she could not complain.

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

^something like that is usually the furthest thing on someones mind, especially when trying to spin a positive image in the ad, then to come out after youve said all these positive things and make such a disclaimer like that would me me think somethin may be wrong.
Even if the O.P. put something like ,"ask all questions before you buy "type thing, and assumning that he offered a refund, which i believe I would have in this instance, Sounds like the buyer wouldve still posted a negative feedback.
I don't think this is an isolated incident. What your going to start seeing more of now that the new feedback policy is in effect is buyers routinely blasting negatives with malice and very little forethought.

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

The crappy, random tracking of that pedal is why I love it. After going without for probably a decade (and trying to justify it because I had plenty of digital pitch shifting devices) I was so glad to buy one not too long ago (from a forum member) and get it back in the arsenal.

It's too bad it worked out this way, because that is pretty much common knowledge about that pedal, but maybe you could've included something like that in the description, because there are going to be plenty of potential customers out there for that pedal that already know what it sounds like. The "glitch education" would be for those who don't know it. Then that would avoid the negatives, but still leave you open to all the customers who "get it".

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

Does the moron live in any forum member's neighborhood? Maybe someone would be kind enough to go turn the front of her house into an omelette. If they lived around here, I'd consider it a fun addition to my morning bike ride. LOL

It may be time to start an Ebay Vigilance Organization to punish the Ebay morons, who don't seem to learn any other way. I'd ramp it up for Ebay theives.

I guess I'm just as crazy of an adult as I was a teenager! LOL

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

Send a copy of this thread to the person who bought the pedal :)

Its common knowledge that a single coil pickup will hum under high gain as well though right ? So should anyone selling a strat have to mention that ?

Any and every analog octave pedal is going to get glitchy when you play more than one note. Thats simply how they work. Theres nothing wrong with them, they only can handle one note.

What else is common knowledge ? If you break a string on a flyod rose your tuning goes out of whack ?

Should anyone selling a Flyod equiped guitar have to mention that so some idiots can't complain ?

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

Well it kind makes sense to try sell things here and Gear Page, where people know what the heck they want ... Plus there a lot of really good musicians who have the confidence of being good and who never really took the time the gear part of it and its the worse, a confident fool ...

Re: What to do when ignorant person things a pedal doesnt work you sold?

you could always wait til they are selling something cheap, buy it, and leave a negative feedback for revenge. lol
