What to do...?

I have recently had a bit of bad luck with a guitar

I got 'what appeared to be' a Fender Strat but after a lot of help from a few lads on here i had discovered that it is a knock off...

Not 100% sure but im guessing its a Squire with a Fender badge, before all this came to my attention i had already started upgrading the guitar, i have a SD invader to throw into it with a new 500k volume pot, so it wont be the worst guitar in the world, but just the thought of playing a fake seems unappealing.

Here's what im thinking of doing,

the guitar, whatever it is, is still a nice guitar, looks lovely and plays great so i think i'll keep it but would prefer to use it as a back up guitar. the reason i got this was i really wanted a Strat, the two other axe men in my band play strats so i thought it was only fitting to play one aswell, plus ive always wanted one but never seemed to get one...

I also have a Squire Tele Custom with SD Invaders and a Epi Les Paul Custom with EMG HZ H4's, im not mad on either of these as ive had them for a while and just feel bored with them.

so what i wanna ask yous is which dyou think would be worth getting rid of to go towards getting myself a real Fender, the Tele or Epi?

I bought the Epi about 6ish years ago, its white with Gold hardware and has got EMG's like i said, this was my only guitar for about 4/5 years so it has its fair share of dents and knock but i reckon its worth somewhere around 550 to 600 EUROS, i bought it for 800, but bare in mind that it does have pretty new EMGs in it, which are about €60 each...

The Tele i got not too long ago, it was something that i thought id really like to have but after getting it i found myself bored of it at a pretty early stage, Its black with a black pickguard and is a HH set up with two SD Invaders, its mint and i have also upgraded the hardware, taking all that into account id reckon its worth around €350

The Epi is worth more but i reckon i could shift the Tele faster, and i would like to get all this sorted asap as im off on tour in about a month and would like to get my Fender before then

I also thought that which ever i decided to sell, i would sell with the EMG's as i really like the Invaders and would like to keep them to put into the Fender i would eventually get.

what are peoples thoughts? any advice or if you have something to add will be greatly appreciated, also if anyone here is interested in either of the guitars let me know ;)

Cheers

Re: What to do...?

Scratch the name off of the fake fender, end of story.

That's exactly what I was gonna say. Ditch the logo on the headstock and it's good to go.

As far as which one to sell, if you're really in a hurry you could put both up for sale and let chance decide. See what goes first.

Re: What to do...?

If the only things that you dislike about the "non-Fender" are the decal and the negatives associations of having been duped, keep it.

The Epiphone is the most immediately saleable of your guitars.

IMO, the reason why you are bored of the Squier T Custom is the SD Invaders. Good as they are, they have robbed the instrument of much of its dynamic range. (I have the Custom II with P90s. Great fun!) Consider changing the pickups on the Squier.

Re: What to do...?

If it plays really well and sounds great, get rid of the offending logo as others have pointed out, or leave it alone and just enjoy it.

Maybe it really isn't a fake? Besides a Squier is still a Fender. Maybe it's a Fender neck on a Squier body? Does it play fantastically? If so, play the snot out of it.
