What to replace a JB with?

I have a Schecter PT that I bought that has a Duncan SH-2 Jazz in the neck and an SH-4 JB in the bridge. The JB is too powerful for my tastes. I am wanting another 4 conductor humbucker that has vintage output and a nice clear treble range. The JB is kinda middy and muffled on my palomino v32's clean channel. The JB is great for overdriven tones and screams but I need some clean tones as well that sparkle.

The Jazz bridge is not a bad idea.

4-conductor, vintage output, clear treble range, sparkle... you described the Jazz bridge.

Hmm. Jazz Bridge. seems hard to find but I will look for it when I get the cashola

Personally, I think the Jazz set should have been pushed, rather than the JB/Jazz.

People forget it's not listed in the vintage section, but the progressive section. It's not overly bright like people think either.....It's just clear, tight, and all the frequencies are heard equally.

If you're a player that hybrid picks a lot, and also like teles, it's really your ideal pickup, because it snaps nicely and you can always use your tone to dial the treble right where you want it.

My findings are similar, but I would add that the middle position of the Jazz neck with a Jazz bridge in a bright 25.5 inch scale guitar into a Vox is something every guitarist should experience. Hints of Brian May's custom guitar, hints of a Rick 6-string, hints of a Gretsch... Can nail the Edge's tone on many U2 tunes.

I've given this some thought and I think a 59 would be a great choice to go w the Jazz neck.

:boggled:

Pairing the Jazz with the JB is the only way the Jazz sells. If they paired the '59n with the JB nobody would look at a Jazz/JB set.

Re: What to replace a JB with?

I was also jonesing at the new P-rails set but that is pricey!

They can't be that much more... I've seen them sold at $110 a piece in stores here, while the Jazz is $90. A small price to pay for all that versatility, if it's what you're after.

That's true, the JB is the selling point, the Jazz is just a clear neck pickup that goes along with it. And anyways, the concept behind the JB/Jazz set is that people can coax a wide variety of tones from the pickups. So while a Jazz set is nice, there's comparatively little variety between the neck and bridge models, and I think a set of them is a bit too plain to really sell.

Actually, I think a '59/JB set would be smart to market. I think there's more versatility in those pickups, than in a JB/Jazz set.

Re: What to replace a JB with?

Looks like I'll have cash to replace the JB with a Jazz Bridge or maybe a Pearly Gates?
