What tremolo fits this?

I got this really magnificent guitar project that was made here in aus. I will take pics for you all to see asap.

What i cant work out is what the hell tremolo it had on it? The seller said it was some sort of Wilkinson that pivoted off a plate..

If you look closely you can see around the holes is a clear rectangular indentation where the bridge plate screwed on.

hmmmmm :barf:

I have pics of the neck. The headstock logo looks like sharpie but its actually inlayed with resin as is the skunk stripe.

You can see how its inlayed in this picture.

Re: What tremolo fits this?

Maybe that Wilkinson vintage-style unit that has slots instead of some of the holes ? Or even a regular vintage-style Strat trem with only 4 holes used for reasons only known to David Fellafel.

Re: What tremolo fits this?

A traditional six screw fulcrum vibrato would make that mark if only four screw holes were drilled. I have installed with just the two outermost screws, leaving the inner four holes undrilled.

It must be. Its just he had 7 mim fenders at his house and he said the bridge wasn't like the ones on them. What eer the case i am happy forthe pricei paid. $100 au for the body and neck including the hap gotoh tuners.

Re: What tremolo fits this?

I have seen a few like that on entry level guitars. I don't remember the manufacturer? I would just fill the holes with oak dowel, sand and drill for another bridge.

Hmmmmm that looks like it would fit, I just don't see why they would have installed that on a hand made guitar. I will send the guy a text and remind him to have a look for me.

If not yeah i ill just redrill for a new bridge.

Re: What tremolo fits this?

If you're planning on redrilling, and don't want to go to a Floyd, check out Wilkinson's two point trem system, or even Schaller's. They fare excellently if you don't do anything too crazy with them. Make sure to lube up your nut and install locking tuners. You'll need them!

If i do it will be a gotoh. they are my favorite replacement on all fronts.

Re: What tremolo fits this?

The seller contacted me and said

''It was a floating trem with a whammy bar but not a floyd rose style looked like a fender apart from the 4 screws and it was black chrome, It was a gotoh/wilkinson''

****n **** i feel i am searching for a bridge that doesn't exist

Re: What tremolo fits this?

Didn't some one make a bridge that had a piece that was mounted in front of it, that had a V groove in it that the bridge pivoted in rather that using 2 studs? Could it be some thing like that?

Show me this magical item you speak of?

Re: What tremolo fits this?

I've seen something like what you're describing. Dan Erlewine talks about it in one of his books, Guitar Player Repair Guide, 2nd Edition, page 103. Somebody wrote in and told Dan about this mod he'd made to his guitar, and he ended up shipping it to Dan so he could try it out. I think I've seen a commercial version of the mod, but I can't remember where.

hmm
heres one here

https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?169283-Installing-a-vintage-tremolo

and if you scroll about half way down this thread
there is another image of a predator with the original trem

http://peavey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=60931

towards the bottom Strathacker says

The Wilkinson WV6SB drops into place like it was made for this guitar body. Everything lines up, and of course the string spread is stock, so no worries there. I strongly suspect, but do not know for certain, that the Wilkinson WVC series will work just as well.

this guy shows his work upgrading his predator
towards the bottom he shows his bridge replacement

Re: What tremolo fits this?

Looks like it could be an ESP Flicker trem. Very similar to the one on the blue guitar posted. I had one that came on an 80's Kramer Striker. If that guitar is from that era, it very well could be a Flicker.

Re: What tremolo fits this?

I was about to say the same. The holes seem exactly like the super-vee bladerunner.

Wrong spacing both ya ^^ :biglaugh:. I am beginning to think like crusticle suggested it just had a regular tremolo but they only used 4 holes. 10.5mm spacing.

This guitar is going to be great i can feel it. Its not often you can find something hand made like this for so cheap.
