Do you use a pure Nickel or a nickel plated brighter ?

For blues etc....

Do you keep all your guitars strung with the same type of string?

Re: What type string do u guys use on ur Strats?

I use pure nickle strings once I have my guitar all situated with new pickups, hardware, ect. I have been using Snake Oil strings for years now and I love them, especially on strats. It makes them sound a bit warmer, but still with that chime. They also last 3-4 times longer than any string I've found....they never get gunky or rusty.

I use SOB's rock formula for my LP's and other non-strat guitars. My favorite set is 9-46. I don't like the feel of thick unwound strings, but I like the chunk of heaver wound strings. SOB will make any set you want, any size, and will sell individual strings as well. I always buy a few extra E,B and G strings in case of breakage.

I always keep a 10 pack or so of EB Hybrid Slinky's around for when I'm messing with pickups or other hardware that might require me to change strings a couple of times. They aren't bad strings, I just prefer the SOB's better.

I'm using pure nickel 9's on all of em. I was using 10s for a long time but switched back to 9s to kinda change things up.

Pure nickel is awesome. I have a bright-ish amp, and used to have a way bright amp. I don't need nickel-plated steel to give me more of what i dont need lol

I use flatwounds chromes (though somehow I doubt they are actually made with chrome..) on all of my guitars... on strats and the strat scale ones I use 11-50

Re: What type string do u guys use on ur Strats?

I use DR exra life, 10's in hot pink, red or black. On my dano I use DR 11's or 12's zebra

Stainless Steel Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys (9-46) on the Strats & everything else, actually, except the Teles and LPC. Those are Stainless Steel Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom (10-52) sets.

DR Pure Blues on all my Fender style axes with vintage style singles, DR Tite Fits on my down tuned, STL-2 equipped Esquire, and D'Addario nickel plated strings on my DG-20 equipped strat (for some extra top end). The Esquire sports a 11-50 set, the others are all 9-46.

dr pure blues 11/15/19/28/38 - tite fit 54 for the low e on all my guitars for the time being.

nickel for everything but the low e where i use nickel plated steel. i like the low e to have a good amount of pop to it

Addario EJ21 12-52 with wound 3rd. The only way to get a good sound out of that naturally thin guitar.

Re: What type string do u guys use on ur Strats?

pure nickel on a strat is tonal heaven, IMO

Re: What type string do u guys use on ur Strats?

There really is something magical about pure nickle strings on a strat....it just sound right, not to mention the feel. They feel so smooth and silky.

Not as great on a Les Paul, which is darker anyhow, but I love the way they feel.

Re: What type string do u guys use on ur Strats?

DR Pure Blues 10-46 on mine, actually just put a fresh set on today.

Re: What type string do u guys use on ur Strats?

I stopped giving it any real thought years ago.

D'Addario 11's on electrics I dig into like LP's and some strats. 10's on guitars that I have a lighter feel on like SG and 335...and one strat.

D'Addario Phosphor Bronze 12's for acoustic, and the hard tension nylons for classical.

I go cheap on my resonator. Sometimes, I even take the strings off my dreadnaught and transfer them to that guitar, just to avoid buying new strings for my slide guitar.

With 17 guitars, I can't go buying expensive strings. D'Addario are just fine. I usually change them when the low E thuds out beyond my liking.
