What would you say this is worth..

I'm going to sell my Epiphone G310 on Ebay. It's fitted with SD, JB/Jazz..i've changed the stock tuning keys to ones that actually work. I've changed the pickguard to a much thicker one, that looks more like the original thing and i've changed the bridge and the tailpiece. These things retail at about £160 up to £250 in some places in the UK. I bought it as a travel guitar, it's rarely been used since i have a much better SG to use most of the time. It's in excellent condition..what would you say it's worth with all that done to it? Would you pay £300? I just want some comments, especially if you own one of these or have tried one :-D. Cheers,

You won't get full value. That is unfortunate but true. You might get an extra US$100.00 on top of the current going rates for a new G310 but that's about max. But then again, I don't know the market values in the UK.

Re: What would you say this is worth..

That's not too bad..I'm actually selling it because i have another SG, and i have my eye on another guitar. I think the lowest going rate over here right now for them is £180. £250 at the highest...

Re: What would you say this is worth..

Ah right. Even if it's like the typical going rate, it'll be something. Cheers for your help :-).

Re: What would you say this is worth..

Take all of the aftermarket upgrades off of it and sell it stock. Seel all of the aftermarket parts seperate. You'll do better in the long run.

Re: What would you say this is worth..

Cheers! I didn't think of that before..I'll try that if i don't get enough for it as it is :-)

Okie...so, packaging the guitar. What would you guys use? I have an old guitar box, i can easily get bubble-wrap..but won't i need cardboard or something to put in there to stabilise it? Or could i just tape it in the box, once wrapped up nice and tight in bubble-wrap? lol. I've never done this before, so help a newbie out :-P. Cheers :-D.

Well, the tighter you can wrap the thing the better off you'll be... Get as much bubble wrap and foamy peanuts as you can. Try to double-box it on top of that.

and a huge +1 on the "bring it back to stock" thing before you sell it. You won't get more (or negligibly more) for your upgrades...might as well sell 'em separately or just keep them for another project.

Re: What would you say this is worth..

Yeah, i would do that..except, i didn't keep the stock pickups since they were that crap. I wasn't planning on selling it when i did it..lol, live and learn. Cheers for your help, i appreciate it :-D.

Shipping a set-necked guitar with a tilt back headstock without using a hardshell case is a risk proposition. I had a headstock break during shipping on a guitar I sold last year....it was in a chipboard hardshell case with plenty of packing material.

I would never do it.

Re: What would you say this is worth..

Go to a guitar store and get the two boxes from a guitar they have just gotten in. The closer to your shape, the better. Then add packing as needed. Figure manufacturers are shipping guitars all over the world then the double boxes so it must work. Most guitar shops will be glad to give you a set.
