What year is my Kramer?

I have a Kramer Focus 3000 with the serial number "A28571." All I've been able to determine so far is that:

• It was manufactured in Japan (probably by ESP Guitars)
• The serial number plate has a logo circa 1985-86

Can anyone tell me anything else about my Kramer Focus based on this serial number?

Kramer serial nos are close to useless. If you can show a picture of the headstock it will help narrow it down based on the shape of the stock and the logo used.

I'd say it's an '86 based off that logo and headstock. The headstocks of the Focus models went through the usual changes the American models did. That one lines right up in that timeframe.

The serial number is a giveaway as far as knowing it's an overseas model.....1 letter followed by 5 numbers. The only exception being some the "E" series plates that had 1 letter followed by 5 numbers.

Is this guitar worth fixing up? Everything's stock, and I don't think I've played the thing since about '95 at the latest -- more than ten years.

Yeah, it's worth cleaning up, I think. Clean up the electronics, a nice polish, setup. If the pickups sound good, clean the poles up a bit and let 'er rip. What you have is the Japanese line Pacer Deluxe. It wasn't called the Pacer Deluxe as you know, but that is the guitar it was modeled after.

I have nary a clue what this thing is worth. What's a Japanese Pacer Deluxe the equivalent of? Is this worth replacing the pickups? (IIRC, they're nothing special.)

That focus was the equivalent of an Ibanez Roadstar II (http://www.chrisguitars.com/iban84roadstar-car.jpg).

Good guitars, but not as nice as a MIA Kramer Pacer or a Jackson.

They sell for anywhere from $200-$350 depending on condition. Yours is in pretty good condition. I'd guess close to 3 bills for that one with a little pre-sale clean-up.

Ditto to being an 86.. I have an 86 focus 6000. They are great.. If you like the way it plays, then fix it up. Itll get better with new pickups and the orig floyd cant be beat!

When I was in my locking tremolo Strat with buckers phase I used one of those...just like that one in fact (mine was a 1985) but it was black...cool guitar to be honest...if you dig that type of stuff.

I have a black Kramer guitar with serial # SE 8440 Neptune, NJ. It also say Floyd Rose original. Does anyone have any information on this? I would like to know what it originally sold for and possible value of it now. Thanks for any help!!! Missey
