What's better than the Air Norton?

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

FretFire: Hm, that´s interesting. Why do you like it, where (bridge or neck), for what style and in what type of guitar (solid-. semi- or full hollow body) ?

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

a friend of mine (used to post here but i dont see him around anymore) has one in the neck of an agile with a DD in the bridge and he digs it

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

To this date, the Air Norton is my favorite neck pickup. What would be the Duncan equivelant to it?

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

has anyone tried the Demon on the neck? because it pretty much has ALMOST the same DC Resistance as the Air Norton.

doesn't have the 'airbucker(spacer between poles and magnets) or the 'dual resonance'(different guage wires on each coil) stuff.

i have a Demon it my Ibanez basswood Roadstar RS 530 and it's the best duncan neck with enough power and alnico5 , a bit much bass with high gain but if you clean it before preamp it is like a Jazz crossed with a pitbull !

I dare you all to defeat the ways of the Air Norton. :D

take this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jazz™ (neck)
SH-2 -- This pickup is for players who need an accurate, clear tone for fast jazz runs. The brighter sound has slightly less output and is a good match with most pickups. A popular combination is The Jazz™ in the neck with either a JB™ (SH-4)

:laugh2:
I dare the norton to even try!

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

Will that really hold up? Would you be willing to put money on it? ;)

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

In the neck?

I've got at least 6 ;) (in no particular order):

1. Pearly Gates

2. Seth Lover Model

3. Jazz

4. 59 with an alnico II magnet

5. Alnico II Pro Humbucker

6. Phat Cat (not really a humbucker, but hey, it fits in the slot :) ).

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

Which one of those is the closest to the Air Norton? I'm looking for a good 7 string pickup for my Universe.

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

The Pearly Gates has some of the high mid snottiness of the Norton, but I don't think it's made in a 7 string version.

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

Damn you're quick!!

I don't think the PG is made in a 7 string form either. I'm tempted to wait for Lester to take me up on this bet so I can get a Jazz 7 and prove him wrong. :laugh2:

Re: What's better than the Air Norton?

The Jazz definately has more clarity than the Norton, while keeping good bass reproduction, but I'm afraid it might not have enough output if you're used to the Norton. The 59 might be a bit more to your liking.
