Whats going on here?

Just looking at the seymour duncan pickup charts and according to the output column, the set lover has more output than a CC!!! Is there something i didnt know about the seth, because i was under the impression it had a "vintage" output which in other words means its quite low compared with other pickups? And definitely lower than the CC???

Re: Whats going on here?

The Seth Lover is not as loud nor does it have as high a DC Resistance as the CC. Why are you getting impression the Seth has more output than the CC? BTW, I use the Seth neck and CC bridge in my Hamer Monoco...I guarantee you the CC has more output than the Seth, :) and I've tried both the Seth N and Seth B. Lew

Re: Whats going on here?

Sorry Lew you musthave misunderstood what i said. I know that the CC is higher output than the Seth, but the seymour duncan tone chart which i have linked to above looks like it says the seth has more output than the CC in the "output" column of the table. So im asking why on earth a seymour duncan tone chart would say such a thing?

Re: Whats going on here?

The tone chart has always been a little "off" as far as the bar graph goes. The CC bar should read closer to the Custom and definately not lower than the Seth.

Re: Whats going on here?

yeah, the tone chart seems a little subjective as far as output

I'm not a tech, but I've wondered if an accurate output chart couldn't be made with a signal in/ db out table

in other words, I would think there's a way to actually measure output, but to be accurate, you'd want the signal in to be a constant

as it is now, you have to just use your ears :)

Re: Whats going on here?

heh, the CC's tone guide looks like a middle finger. :laugh2:

Re: Whats going on here?

The resonant frequency makes a difference with output too.
