Re: Whats the best bridge trem and saddles for a strat??

I never break strings at the saddle. Usually it breaks either at the locking post of the tuners, or where the strings come out of the block hole before it reaches the saddle. Instead of making "roller saddles", they need to put small rollers at the opening of the baseplate where the string comes out of. The strings just sort of sit at the sharp edge and weaken every time you use the trem. If there was a roller there, there would be almost no friction from the ball to the saddle.

I like the slide idea. I'm going to do that to an old ibanez AX120 that I have

Check out the Wudtones bridge plate. The holes where the strings pass through are milled to avoid any contact with sharp edges. Furthermore, they have carefully considered how the pivot point interacts with the retaining screws (on the vintage type bridge) to virtually eliminate the friction that affects tuning stability. I'm never going to explain it like they do, so please check out the Wudtones website to appreciate how it's done. I was so impressed I just ordered one!
