There is no one 'best" OD pedal. What kind of tone are you looking for and what guitar & amp do you use? Check my sig...I use 3 different OD's for different amounts of drive because of the variety of music my band does.

The Jeckyll & hyde is a good unit and I think the one OD is a tubescreamer copy and the other is more like a Rat....should be very versatile.

I really like the Fulltone OCD. It's one of the few dist/od pedals that actually impresses me. Sound clips are on the website.

The Fulltone Fulldrive 2 is another good one - not as impressive as the OCD in my opinion but it's a classic.

If you want just a bit of overdrive and/or boost nothing beats a Barber LTD. Look up Barber Electronics on google and listen to the samples.

The world is filled with great drives and distortions...
There is nothing best....since we all play on different guitars, amps, cables, and play differently!
Look for Lovepedals, MIAudio, Demeter, Chicago Iron if you are into old 60's stuff, Foxrox, these are the more common underground smoutikidiki stuff!
The world is big.......

I play mostly rock & metal---2 CARVINS & 1 AGILE--They ALL got SeymourDuncans(c-5(bridgeCarvinsc90)PearlyGate(bridgeAgilelespaul)FULLShred(bridgeCarvinDC200)....I currently play thru a CARVIN VINTAGE16, so you can see why I need a good Distortion Pedal(I have a DIGITECH multipedal, the distortion's ok, I want better).

Thanks for the ADVICE so far!

the BEST OVEDERIVE I CAN THINK OF is the BOSS DS-1 for sure that pedal is so good it sounds so perfect!!!!!1111cos(0)ONEone

--I just looked on EBAY for the boss ds1--THEY got "MODDED" Boss ds1 for $95.00---without the mods-$39.00.

WHAT DO YA KNOW ABOUT MODDED BOSS PEDALS??

My favorite two channel boxes (by far):

Light to medium OD - Barber Tone Pump EQ
Marshall Crunch - Barber Burn Unit EQ


My fave one channel box at the moment is the Lovepedal Eternity

i have a DS-1 that was modded by forum member STRATDELUXER.......it sounded okay before to boost my 68 Fender Bassman but now that it's been modded, stepping on the pedal makes my whole rig shift from a classic Fender sound to a modern Marshall sound.

The modded DS-1's on eBay are probably Keeley mods tho, and Keeley does different stuff to his DS-1's.

Ummm if you really want better tone I would at least get a tube amp...Epiphone Valve Jr. heads are only $99, as much as a decent distortion pedal, and they sound pretty good.

If you have bad tone, adding a pedal won't help...pedals need a decent tone to 'build' from.

Yeah - Distortion/OD is a real personal choice. HAs to with guitar, pups, amp and style along with ear preferences. That said, I am a big fan of the Stamps Drive-O-Matic.
