the strings that im currently using now are the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Stainless Steel.
i have use d'Addario before and they are the worst.

ive been trying alot of picks and so far the ones that suit me the best are
Everly Star .60mm

I usually use Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies, but today I picked up a set of GHS boomers, and I'm loving the tone I'm getting from them, much brighter and snappier than the ernie balls.

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

i have heard that GHS strings are better than EB.
maybe ill buy a set

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

I wish I could find a pack of old Seymour Duncan strings....I loved them ......picks? ...I tried a old six pence ....funky

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

I've been using D'adarrio XL115 (11 thru 49) for the past 7 or 8 years. Have never had a problem with them. They sound good & they last a long time. I just recently bought a set of the new Dunlop strings and I like them also. I use to use EB strings a long time ago but I used to break a lot of strings. I don't have that happen with D'Adarrio

Dean Markley blue steel 9's and I use what ever pick I can find haha

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

I string most of my guitars with D'Addario Flatwound, 11-49

I always use Ultex Jazz III's. (the little yellow ones that turn invisible the moment they leave your hand..)

ive nearly always used GHS, but lately ive been switching over to d'addario XL115W's, which is the 11-49 set but with a wound G. love that.

as for picks, my favorites are actually ones i got printed up at www.intunegp.com .88 "grippX" (tortex), but the feel is slightly different from tortex and i like it better.

plus they look cool....

i also use tortex jazz IIIs from time to time as well. 1.14 i believe.

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

I used to be a big fan of snake oil strings, but I pulled a set off my brand new guitar a while ago and saw that they were wearing the frets about the same as other brands I've tried. I prefer Ernie Balls 11-48 I think, but I'd like to try out the d'addarios. For picks, I use the thickest of whatever I can find. Sometimes Tortex, Sometimes Ultex, and I liked gator grips for a while when I had a problem dropping picks.

GHS nickel rockers were the best I've tried for feel and tone, but they don't make them anymore, except as an Eric Johnson signature set. I haven't tried the Eric Johnson ones, but I'll give them a go next time I need strings.

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

Been using DR Tite-Fit 12-52 and Dunlop Tortex 1.14 picks since at least 95 or so....

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

I like the blue Dunlop Tortex 1.0mm picks.

For strings, I like GHS Boomers for aggressive guitars and Gibson Vintage Reissues for more mellow instruments. I'm kind of a string wuss, so I use 9-42 on 25.5" scales and 10-46 on 24.75" scales, except for the "Slayer" guitar that's tuned to Eb and also gets 10's.

...really?

because GHS have always sounded broken-in to me, and Ernie Balls have maximum new-string KLANG

I use Ernie ball slinkys in different gauges. they are bright, full, and feel like a quality made american product.

I use tortex picks, .60mm, though in the past ive used gator grip and derlin 500. (all dunlop)

It could just be that after playing my gretsch (a much darker sounding guitar) that my tele just sounds brighter than usual. They don't sound broken in at all though, they feel very new to me.

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

i like either dunlop 1mm ultex or .88 tortex

for strings i like dr pure blues and tite fits, either the standard 11-50 set or one of two custom sets i have them make. 11/15/19/28/38/56 or 10/14/18/26/36/50 all in std tuning. if i detune i up the gauges to 12-56.

for acoustic i like martin sp 13-56 or dr sunbeam

bass strings roundwound = dr marcus miller fat beams, flatwound = rotosound

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

.88 tortex wedges and rotosound .10-.52. Ive played D'addario and EB before but never tried any of the more expensive brands.

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

For picks, I've been digging the Eric Johnson Jazz III's lately (more grippiness than the regulars)

For strings, I've fallen in love with d'addario's EXL120+ set which is a .0095-.0115-.016-.024-.034-.044 set. For some reason the 9.5's just fit me perfectly.

Re: whats the best kind of strings and picks have you used?

My fingers. Well, them and the yellow dunlop tortex picks.

Best strings? Rotosound reds.
