What's the Craziest Guitar You've Ever Seen?

Hey, I was wondering, What is the craziest guitar you've ever seen (not necessarily in person). For me it is a Conklin 9-string, 36 fret guitar (that's not typo; 3 octaves!) It's the most insane thing I've ever seen. Also, there's Michael Angelo's 4 neck guitar and Uli Jon Roth's fabled 40 fret guitar. Just lemme know what you guys have seen.

That wangcaster-derived bass that was so detailed, that it was almost pornographic. :laugh2:

1. Path Metheney's Pikasso guitar that was built by Linda Manzer
2. Charlie Hunter's multi-string slanted fret guitar... i think it's a Novax or something.
3. Rick Neilsen's 5-neck hamer
4. Steve Vai's big pink heart guitar; i actually saw him play this live a few years ago and it was quite a treat!

In addition to the penis-shaped ones, the giant triangular red guitars that that naked Swedish band played.

www.bunnybass.com has lots of funny basses.

The Conklin 36 fret one has also slanted frets (technically called fanned frets) This allows for multiple scales and good intonation. There are videos of Rusty Cooley playing on an 8 string with fanned frets one www.rustycooley.com. Pics of Conklin guitars are on the Conklin web site and they also have a 9 string bass... that's one wide fret board!

^^^^^^
The Craziest one I've ever seen is the giant one on the TV show 'Big' that is loaded with the world's largest pickup, made by Seymour.

but really i thin it would have to be my first guitar as a kid that had a button you press and noise came out fo a speaker i wish i had it still!

1. Anything from Ron Thal
2. Rick Nielsen's doubleneck (double leg? :) ) yellow suit guy guitar
3. Les Paul's "LOG" with detachable body wings

Re: What's the Craziest Guitar You've Ever Seen?

1) There was a guitar company in the early 80's called Sardonyx that made a guitar that had a body similar to Steinberger with these outrigger rails on it. Strange looking instrument.
2) The Gittler Guitar. No body to speak of, just frets attached to a spine. Andy Summers played one in the video for Police's "Synchronicity II".
3) Rick Nielson's 5-neck monstrosity.

I remember those things. First prototype had fishing string for frets. What a weird thing. And the body made of aluminum with the huge tubes for frets on the later models. You could safely say that guitar has the most scalloped fretboard ever.
