The OD-3 that I played sounded better than the sd-1 and sd-2 . . . it sounds a bit more natural\open . . . what kind of overdrive are you looking for?

The Boss Super Overdrive is a great OVERDRIVE pedal... Its is just Subtle...Overdrive... Thats the best way I can describe it.. Just like u can say Overdrive is Subtle Distortion... U can even Say it wont Change ur sound too much.. Keeping ur guiatr sounding alomnost clean

Well, as far as i know, Overdriving a transistor or a valve circuit will cause clipping and overtones, which we percieve as distortion.

I've never understood it when people discuss the difference between "overdrive" and "distortion", all overdrive will distort the sound in a way. Though, i migth see that the word "distortion" is more commonly thougth of as a more drastic effect than the word "overdrive".

I think you hit the nail on the head so to speak.
it seems that distortion is "harsher" funny thing is i got a hm-2 which i LOVE and it is a "distortion" pedal but if u roll the drive and what not back some that thing has some great overdrive! haha :smash:
