I've been wanting one of these bad boys for a long time and I finally found one in a guitar store for 499.99, thoughts?

Slight scratches, but sounds awesome.

I've heard that these have bad tuning stability if the tremelo is used, would locking tuners help at all? That's the only thing I find annoying about it.

last I checked they went from $600 to $700 on ebay.
499 is good.

The mustang is not a guitar to buy if you like using the wang bar though. It's not a good design. Buy it if you like the short scale, the neck radius, the frets, the offset body, the jangly pickups, the color, the knobs, just don't buy it for the tremolo :-D

A lot of those Fender trem designs aren't great for stability. The Jag/Jazzmaster design works on a pivoting bridge unit. That too can be problematic.

Locking tuners will do nothing for tuning issues that are due to the bridge

I just know of certain musicians using their wammys a lot without any issue. Specifically a mister Ty Segall. I have no idea how that's possible. I put money down on the mustang, that baby will be mine this Saturday ♥
