More evidence that the Peavey XXX was to be Lynch's signature amp...

actually peavey is comming out with a GL signature amp.

Look at the December 2004 issue of Guitar One magazine. Page 87.

Say that the amp will be called Brahma and will be unveiled at the january 05 namm show.

Yeah, from what I've heard it'll be one weird amp. Based on his vintage Marshall Plexi crossed with a vintage Orange amp that EVH gave him. No master volume, self-biasing, single channel amp. More of a vintage crunch "brown sound" type amp- not another ultra high gain screamer. I played a Marshall Plexi re-issue a few years back, and you had to CRANK it to get any crunch! I kept thinking of those old black and white films of bands like Cream and Black Sabbath! I know you can probably use a power brake device, but that kind of detracts from the vintage vibe, don't ya think? I'll try one once they come out, but as of right now, I'm not expecting a whole lot.

Wow! I've never liked peavy's amps before but that sounds like my type amp. I play a vintage Orange right know and I've always liked old Marshalls. I do think that it would be good with a master volume cause my Orange gets very loud very fast.

Re: What's wrong with the XXX poster?

It's no secret that the Triple XXX was designed with George. The reason it didn't come out as a 'George Lynch' amp is because during the NAMM show where it was unveiled, George failed to show up at a 'meet and greet' signing at the Peavey booth. Mr. Peavey tolerates very little nonesense, so George was removed from the amps promotion. Notice that the only 'signature amp' aside from the new JSX, was EVH's. The Wiggy was 'designed with Dweezil Zappa' and the Triple XXX had George followed thru that day at NAMM, would have been the Triple XXX designed with George Lynch. From my understanding, EVH didn't want Peavey to have other signature amps in their line to compete with the sales of the 5150's. Whether that's true or not, it is weird that Peavey didn't have another signature series until things with EVH were nearing the end. Now that Peavey and George have patched things up, it's time for the Brahma.

I'm looking forward to what Peavey has to show at the Jan NAMM show. The Brahma, JSX Combo, and hopefully a updated Classic series. Should be interesting.

Re: What's wrong with the XXX poster?

The Brahma sounds very interesting. Not a fan of Peavey's amps, though they do represent good value. Maybe this will be the first peavey I really like.

Re: What's wrong with the XXX poster?

Word has it that EVH destroyed 2 of his Wolfgangs onstage during the end of the final show the other night. I've seen pics of the show, but not of him tearing up his Wolfgangs, so take it for what it's worth. People who went to the show are saying he did make firewood out of them..

Re: What's wrong with the XXX poster?

As a rule I hate PV amps...and truth be told, I have very little use for George Lyncy but I am really curious about this amp, does anybody have any info on this beast? Anything would be a start...
