As my license plate suggests, my favorite dirt box is the MXR Distortion plus. I have a few different flavors of the pedal. My vintage tan ROSS Distortion, DOD 250, and Decibel 11 Dirt Clod all capture the vibe of the D+. Live I use the Dirt Clod to mimic the D+ because it can also give me a TS vibe when needed and has ten presets. I also keep a Wampler Dracarys High Gain Distortion on my board for my more modern high gain. There is also a Tech 21 Liverpool on my board to give me some classic VOX Super Beatle overdrive. Lastly, I use an MXR MC402 Boost/Overdrive to gain stage and boost leads.
I also run a BBE Boost for my light break-up stuff and a MOOG Minifogger Delay for a lead boost. The MOOG has a boost circuit similar to an Echoplex, so I use the pedal with no echo, and the DRIVE pushed similar to an EP Boost to thicken and bump leads.
There are piles of other boosts, overdrives, and distortions on my shelves, but those are the ones that get the most use.

Some pedal come and go away but klone stays in my pedalboard. I used to have EHX Soul Food. Currently I'm using JRAD Archer Ikon and have been thinking about Wampler Tumnus Deluxe with its active EQ. I don't do distortion. I have 1981 DRV but use it as low gainer into Archer. For fuzz, I have the almighty Boss FZ-2, EQD Park (tonebender), JHS Mini Foot V2, McCaffrey Green Vodka (Russian muff) and Devi Ever US. The latest is my favorite. Very wild and nasty.
Lately, all of the dirt pedals I actually use with guitar are BYOC builds. I use a Silver Pony II for a clean boost and light OD, a modified 855 Drive for mid-gain rhythm stuff and a modified Triangle Large Beaver for heavier distortion and fuzz.
Their PCBs and components are first rate. I have really appreciated the ability to easily swap a transistor or a cap or resistor value here and there to really make a pedal sound exactly how I want.
Funny enough, I think I have built about 30 of their pedals and I have ended up selling a lot of my rare, vintage and boutique pedals. The proceeds from those sales more than paid for the parts I bought and I sound better playing too.
Their PCBs and components are first rate. I have really appreciated the ability to easily swap a transistor or a cap or resistor value here and there to really make a pedal sound exactly how I want.

I've only tried two of them. Soul Food is grittier while Archer is smoother. As clean boost, both are fine. Gain cranked, the later is more pleasant sounding to me. If I only use klone strictly as clean boost, Soul Food is good enough.
Even comparing the 2, that helps. I like smoother sounds, and I tend to use the Klones for the dirt, not the boost. I've used a few Zen Drive clones that were really smooth, too.

......and my modified BK Butler/TubeWorks Blue Tube pedal with a bulbous 6SL7 octal tube bulging out the side.

For a long time I was settled on the Black Cat Amps Djenttonic. In a league of it's own in my book (the name is as unfortunate as SD's marketing and naming of the Black Winters - can do much more then the name suggests). But since this weekend it's no longer alone in it's leage, the Friedman BE-OD joined the party.
