When did 57 Classics switch from PE to Poly wire?

I believe Gibson started using poly in there 57's in 2006

i dunno, but i did notice a big difference in tone between my 1996 and 2006 set. The older ones sucked massively, whereas the newer ones were just uninspiring and constricted (to my ears).
