I just made one myself from some chuck of wood I found somewhere. Works perfectly. Don't be lazy, just do some measuring and make 2 blocks for either side of the trem. It's not hard to do and certainly not rocket sience. ;)
Good Luck!

I just hammered two normal gaming dice in there.

Hmm why did you guys not just buy a hardtail?? :smack:

Because I didn't know anything about guitars and I thought the Ibanez RG looked pretty. :smack:
I still like the looks and luckily it turned out to be a great playable guitar but the Floyd is not for me so I blocked it.
I think it's strange, there are so many guitars to choose from, yet the nice and slick looking ones have the features I don't need.

Also Benji I have a blocked floyd now and put in 5 springs under a little tentoin for a nice and reverby effect to the sound.

what kind of tools would you need for cutting/sanding it out??

Man I only use my Floyds for dives and other strange things, but I never float it...hate the drrr drrr it says when playing rhythm.
The rest of the time it just rests on the top of the guitar, my Kramer has a block that prevents it from going backwards.
Well as for sleek guitars without trems, plenty of those :)

Here is one Ibanez as an example.

That's exactly why I blocked the floyd, I heard this strange little pitch changes when playing rythem. Als otuning stability wasn't the greatest.
All fixed now. :burnout:

Thanks for the link, I hope Ibanez will coninue to make more guitars without those damn floyds. I love the looks and feel of the RG, it's just sexy but I wish they would make some higher end models with a hardtail or maybe even a Gibraltar III bridge like on the SZ models.

You can buy cedar wedges at any home supply store. Cut yourself a block, and them shim it by adding wedges until the bridge is level. The wedges break off real easy for a flush finish.

Then when you want your Floyd back, just remove the blocks

what kind of wood is good for blocking, you think? Maple is hard, oak is hard - other woods might be really soft. I would think a hard wood is best for conducting vibration to the wood, or perhaps the same wood as the body...
