Where can i get new pole screws for SD humbuckers?

I've got some rusty pole screws on a couple of really old SD pickups and want to swap them over for new ones. Can i order them directly from SD, and what would be the best way to do so? I found some on eBay but there seems to be different alloy choices and i would like to just get the exact same screws SD uses.

Is Dimarzio pickups the same threads as SD pickups? I may keep a PAF Pro i have but want to experiment with non hex screw on one bobbin to hear what that does. Maybe even replace the non coated black hex for nickel plated hex screws.

Also, the non screw pole pieces are a little rusty, i am thinking just sanding them carefully will remove the rust. Is there a reason to avoid doing this?

Submerging those screws in DeOxit or even WD40 for a couple if hours will save you the expense of new screws.

HTH,

Good advice, but im don't think that's going to work. The screws have basically started to corrode so I know the rust is deep and a few of the heads seem a bit stripped. Previous owners probably used screw drivers that where too small and damaged the screws a little, removing the nickel coating, which allowed for the screws to rust over time. I prefer to just replace the screws all together, besides i have a rather acid sweat (IE, strings don't last me longer than 1 maybe 2 weeks, then they're wrecked) and the screws would just rust again if the coating is damaged.

To offset your cost sell them to somebody looking to relic a pickup. It'll add to the realism.

I'm actually kinda serious. People would buy that.

I bought gold slugs and screws from one of the large eBay sellers (not AddictionFX) and they made my humbuckers sound dull and muddy and generally awful. After swapping in some screws and slugs from Seymour and from Mojotone, my pickups sounded normal again. The metal or plating must be off on some of these cheap, no-name slugs and screws that are out there.

I emailed SD a few years ago asking about chrome Invader screws and they posted them to me (in the UK) for free. Might be worth a shot....
