Where Could I Buy Empty Rack Units?

I'm basically looking for an empty, one space rack shell. Not quite sure what it's called, but I'm looking to mount my OD and noisegate in there, have the controls/footswitches on the front, and the inputs/outputs and power in the back, just to save on space.

Anyone know where I can grab one of those?

you can find empty enclosures at electronics parts suppliers ... you'd have to drill your own holes for input/output ... i just googled 'electronics enclosure' .. i bet rackmount chassis would work for googling too

digi key has 'em too - and cheaper ... but their website can be daunting to use - might be better to call em

i've never found any 1 space ones and i've been looking. smalles i found were 2 space. they are all over ebay. just do a search for rack case or similar.

Hmm... it looks like it'd be cheaper to eBay a 1space rack effect and just rip the original unit out, or find a broken one.

That'll probably work. You might even be able to order it right from them with a credit card. Maybe try B&H photo or Sweetwater too...I usually use Victors House of Music which is the brick & mortar AMS. There's a pretty good chance that your local music shop is already a dealer for 'em and can order it...if they sell rack screws & racks, shelves, drawers etc. then you'll most likely be Fonzie.

the one i linked to comes with the rack mount ears ... if you check that link, and click on 'drawings' it'll show em
