Bridge ... Use it for chunky rythm work

Re: Where Do You Put Your Full Shred?????

I have put them in the bridge. I have played the neck version but, I wasnt impressed. I have wanted to try the bridge position in the neck though. Has anyone tried this?

Re: Where Do You Put Your Full Shred?????

I have it in the neck, and I would have liked to use it for distortion but it is too muddy. The cleans are great though, so I will stick to the L-500XL for distortion. The Full Shred was described to me as a bright pup, and I like a bright tone, so to some it might not seem to be too dark as I percieve it as. The cleans when slightly rolled off are great though, though I was a little dissapointed when I expected the pickup to really shine under distortion.

Re: Where Do You Put Your Full Shred?????

maybe it all boils down to our individual set-up & the guitar in question, my FS is in the neck of my Ibanez S540 (mahagony). i plug straight through, no FX. the FS is my lead humbucker because it delivers individual notes with clarity at very high gain.

Bridge position of my '85 Gibby V. The thing smokes. Slightly brighter than my Invaders.

well remember that dime has this full shred in enck and he plays into a roland microcube :D

not necessarily the ebst distorted tone

Re: Where Do You Put Your Full Shred?????

I had one in the bridge and it was mud city to me.. It was in a Jap charvel with a shaller floyd trem? Maybe there was something wrong with it though as it just sounded like total mud and dirt to me.. and I find most Duncans too bright, but not the full shred.. I thought it was very flabby on the bottom end..

Re: Where Do You Put Your Full Shred?????

I think it's super sweet in the neck.

But there is one thing to remember: It doesn't have that much bass, so players who like to hide behind the bass and "warmth" of other neck pickups, watch out! This pickup is very revealing of eveything you play and do. I have found that it really shines under a lot of gain in the neck slot. I use it with the Dime as well and I've only had great results.

I've never tried the bridge; I'm content with the Dime for now.

Re: Where Do You Put Your Full Shred?????

I have 2 full shreds in my '86 gibson flying V, sounds very dry and chunky, lots of defenition, and lots of harmonics too, tight bottom end, great for metal.

this pickups great clear sound in the bridge and the neck and cleans are good too.
tried a JB in that guitar first but that one has a slightly loose bottom end, still have a JB in my jackson soloist but wil change into something else soon, maybe another full shred or a duncan distortion.
