Where to find good KT66 Tubes

I'm considering picking up a used amp that has some rattly power tubes, so I am curious about where to find a good set of KT66's. The shop I talked to said that most of the new manufacture ones they have put in combos have gone microphonic and recommended NOS tubes. Is this true?

There is some healthy skepticism that the JJ's are really KT66's. I used to LOVE the Groove Tube version. From what I can tell, these TAD's are the same ones. NOS will cost you and arm and a leg and probably some other body parts.

the old gtkt66hp tubes were great. i havent found any new product i liked as much. i have a set of genalex kt66's (thanks larry!) and nothing new touches them. the old gt's were as close as ive found by a good margin but even with them it seemed the focus was shifted higher in the mid range compared to the nos

i dont use them often so they still have a little left in them, most of the time im running a 6v6 amp
