Where to put boost in Marshall DSL40CR

Wanting to put a boost in my signal chain and wondering if I should put it in front of the amp or in the effects loop? So far I'm going to have a delay and a chorus in the effects loop and a screamer and tuner going into the front of the amp. I'm only going to use the boost for leads and solos, it wont be on all the time. Where would you guys put the boost in this signal chain? Thanks for the help.

Depends on how much saturation you have going with the amp already. If by boost you mean volume, then you may want it in the effects loops if you have the preamp clipping pretty good, like most people run Marshalls. If you are running the amp clean, then the boost can be out front to the input. It's all about available headroom. If you run a boost in to an already saturated amp, you won't get more volume, but more saturation. In that case, a boost after the saturation will give more volume. Makes sense?

I would certainly put the boost/od in front, and then if you want a true solo boost just use an EQ (with a level control) in the loop for both volume and shaping.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, yes I intend to use it as a gain boost instead of a volume boost. I have plugged in to the amp and played. I've got a good EQ going on the amp with the gain on 8. This amp is LOUD! On low power mode I can't get past 1 on the master volume, but it sounds good. I'm wanting to add some more options to my tone here that's all. I think that's all the questions for now. Thanks for all the help everyone.

What kind of boost is it? FWIW, overdrives used as boosts should always go in front. If you need a volume boost, an EQ or similar in the loop is the best bet, using an OD/Dist in the loop will just sound messy most of the time.
