Assuming you want to run to your home country. You can only take one bass. What's your pick?

The two basses that I emotionally connect to the most are my 2000 AVRI Precision '62 in sunburst and my tangerine pearl 4HH Bongo.

The Precision is just right. It plays right and it sounds right and
off you go. No options for anything. Honestly I have no idea why I
like this one better than my other P basses. It's one of those things
when you open the case after grabbing the package from the driveway
and you just know.

The Bongo is the closest I have seen to come to a technically perfect
4 string bass. Rings like a bell all the way up and down the neck,
nothing is screwed up, and between the two humbuckers and the 4-band
EQ you can do anything. Can be connected to anything, with the low
impedance output it doesn't care what the rig tries to do, what the
cable is and you can correct for the room and the cabinet right in the
bass.

I have others, you know my pretty birdseye Warwick thump, which is
also more valuable. My Corvette I like a lot but it can't be an only
bass, it's more suitable for more technical music styles with the hard
wood and JJ pickups. The Corvette is also cheap to replace.

The P-Bass by default, as the other two are just ****in' sleazy and gross.

PBass. Lots Fender can do with colors and options but the original sunburst on a vintage Fender is hard to beat! And '62 was a great year. I have a '62 Strat and recently picked up a '62 Tele, and would love to find a reissued '62 Fender PBass!

P Bass fir me too. Though he Warwick is unique. I think understand what you mean when you say the Bongo is Technicaly perfect.

It's Germany. Now that you say it, Warwicks are easy over there (the German mades, anyway :)) and Music Man is stronger in Europe than in the US. Large brand's premium products on the other hand are a rippoff in there.

I would go with the one that is most flexible + hardest to find at home.

I would think that'd be the Bongo.

But I would have a really hard time letting go of that burl Warwick...

Whatever fits the gig the best.

I have a number of basses, and they all see gigs, depending on what is needed at the gig and the genre of music being played.

This is a good answer, but IMO, both the P and the Bongo (both made by companies founded by Leo Fender) are decent choices.

Leo designed the MM cast bridge as an improvement to the P's stamped-steel, and they're still using variations of it to this day. That has a lot to do with the Bongo's "rings like a bell" clarity.

I'd still have a hard time parting with my LP Triumph, though. Lester got some things right, too.

I would probably take the Bongo. As you pointed out, it's the most techincally perfect out of all of them, and for a prog band (which is what my band is gradually moving towards) that sound is perfect.
