Hi guys!

I'm new here, I'm really really fascinated about what I read about the C-5b/59'n combo, so I'm on my way to getting it for my PRS Custom24, here she is....

She's in a faded grey/black. So i'm wondering what pickup colours will match it, NO! its not as simple as black or zebra! well.. have you guys seen the tremonti signature with the neck nickel covered and the bridge uncovered? I think that looks cool, what do you guys think? Zebra? Conventional all black? or Tremonti-esque neck nickel covered bridge uncovered?

Re: Which combination LOOKS good?

I personaly wld keep the Bridge Black and the neck Zebra ( it looks great belive me, I seen that on a Hammer California, in the hands of the guitarist of a great band that played out here) Or go for a Zebra in bridge and Black in neck.

Re: Which combination LOOKS good?

as a B.C. rich owner i tend towards black pups als the way through. It just looks better since all my guitarsa are black.

Re: Which combination LOOKS good?

A classy axe like that should have classy looking pickups, Nickle covered pickups all the way for this one!

Or you could do something like this:

Or one nickle covered and one uncovered zebra...
I would definately change the colour of the mounting rings into Black or nickle.

Re: Which combination LOOKS good?

I have a teal black McCarty that's about the same shade as yours, only green.
I think PRS's look best with zebra cream/black, or nickel that never gets polished so it has the aged nickel look. You've already had double-black, so I'd say go with a classic look of nickel 4 lead Custom 5/59N. I've found that combo to be great in PRS guitars, since they have a natural high mid character. The C-5 balances it out by supplying deep tight bass, neutral mids, and natural vintage highs.
One more thing.....make sure you get two Duncans, because PRS and Duncans don't react well to each other, due to some phase issues.

+1
I have a black humbucker in my strat and a Zebra Rails in the neck, I like the look.
Rock On :13:

Re: Which combination LOOKS good?

I'm a humongus fan of zebra pickups, but for that guitar I'd go with nickel in both slots.

Re: Which combination LOOKS good?

Definitely zebra, thoose will look amazing on that guitar! In case you decide to put a set of black pickups I'd change the mounting rings for black ones. With zebras I'd stick with creme.

Re: Which combination LOOKS good?

On a dark guitar like that I would prefer both to have nickel covers. When I got my Reed (dark blue), thats what I was going to do, as I felt it needed some contrast. But that went back so I could pick up a LPD....friggin GAS :laugh2:

Re: Which combination LOOKS good?

I'd stick with black with the creme rings or both nickel with creme rings. You could go the route of a Hamer config with the black bridge and zebra neck but the first 2 I mentioned are a little classier.

Re: Which combination LOOKS good?

zebras or nickel, but i would say kick those ugly PU rings out and put black or something other than creme. Then i think it will look a little better.. those creme rings make it look too vintage to me, which i dont like.
