Which distortion/overdrive?

I was wondering what distortion/overdrive would be best for my taste with my amp. I dont like a lot of distortion and I would like most of it to come from my amp. Im really just looking for something to boost it a little with but sound good too. My amp is a Masrshall JMP mastervolume version from 1979. I was thinking about getting one of those older boss GE-10s which should add some boost or either and MXR micro amp or distortion II. If I get one of the MXRs do they come in a script version or what years should I look for?

Use the search function and you'll get a boatload of info really quickly.

Don't waste your money on any MXR. I like going on Ebay and searching in guitar accessories for 'overdrive' from highest to lowest. You'll see a nice variety of OD's well worth buying. You might like a Fulltone OCD, Fulldrive II, Banzai Coldfusion, HBE,
Maxon OD Pro etc.....

One worth looking at is a Keeley modded Tube Sceamer. Baked mod.
