Hey guys I have an update. Now I can't decide between the PRS or a Charvel San Dimas Hardtail.
The charvel has the pickups I was planning on putting in the PRS already in it. All I'd have to do Is put straplocks on it, change the nut and do a setup. It'd probably save me some bucks.
But I know they're different kinds of guitars for different kinds of things. Maybe not apples and oranges, but apples and a different kind of apple haha. Opinions?

How are the trems on the SE's btw? I want to get a guitar with a non-floyd trem, as I'm kind of burned out on those, and that seemed like a pretty good option. But I really like the tuning stability and simplicity of a tom or hardtail.

PRS looks fancier

San Dimas looks more like a hot rod workhorse

Both good guitars, both fairly versatile... I'd just snag the cheaper one, LOL

I am in the states, probably under one thousand. I wanna have a guitar that's good to gig with, but something that I won't be worried if it gets broken or stolen

A Charvel San Dimas Superstrat should have a trem IMO. There are certain Charvel and Jackson archtop Superstrats that look ok with a hardtail, but it seems.....strange otherwise for one to be without a trem....

If it was me, I'd snag one of the new San Dimas Charvels with the truss rod wheel near the neck pickup and OFR. Those are genuine hot rods!! My Style 1 is the same, other than having to remove the neck for truss rod adjustment....

Definitely the Charvel then

The PRS looks really nice and fancy, but if you put a little ding on it, you'll feel like you wanna kill yourself. The flaw just looks so much more accentuated and jarring when the guitar is so refined looking.

The Charvel on the other hand... if you chip off any paint and have the bridge corrode... IT'S RELIC! XD People actually pay extra money for that extra scratch and ding!

Any guitar I've ever owned that was relic'd was because it had actually been played countless hours, or because of.....clumsy behavior influenced by alcohol..... :alcoholic

DUDE I WONDER TOO!! If they bought a beat-up looking guitar in the first place, how would they feel if they beat it up more? Does it go up further in value because it's even MORE relic'd? Does it drop in value because it's not "real" relic? But then... isn't the natural damage the ACTUAL REAL relic? THE PLOT THICKENS!

I did at one point consider getting a nice guitar that's relic'd for gigging because hey, same great playability and tone, without the worry of damaging it, BECAUSE IT ALREADY IS! Then I realized... why pay extra for it, when I can just buy something nice with a very plain looking finish (which will almost be cheaper), and just let it naturally get damaged if it does? XD

The only part of a guitar I've ever dinged is the headstock, which tends to get in the way when you are trying to find something or walking around whilst wearing your guitar. But I learned how to avoid that problem early on.
