I've played the Omen 6 and liked most everything about it. It probably sounded really good though b/c i was playing through a good amp.(I have a 15watt Line 6 SpiderII).
I haven't played the Ibanez. No music store around me has it to try out.
Both have good reviews.
This is they way i see it. If i get the Omen, i may wanna put at least 1 SD pup in the bridge, so that'll be about $400 total into the guitar.

If i get the Ibanez sz, i may not wanna switch the pups quite yet b/c i've read that the sz pups that come in them are pretty good, so there ya go, about $400 for that one too, plus its a better built guitar from what i can tell.

So what do you guys think? Anyone own or have played either one of these?
Thanks for your feedback, i appreciate it.

I think Schecter makes some of the best low end guitars around right now. Get the Schecter.

Most people hate Ibanez, but my friend has a SZ, one of the higher model ones. That guitar is amazing, with a DD in the bridge that thing can rip! He has the one that comes in see thru blue. Man for around 400 that the guitar is amazing. The set neck on his is so nice great upper fret access, I would buy it if I wasn't digging the Hamer Standard so much :D And I already have a strat style buddy :(

Schecter makes some of the best bang for the buck guitars on the market right now, no questions asked...but if you want my real opinion...but used, and let somebody else take the hit! Here are a few quality 2 bucker, non trem Schecters for you to think about...

Allthese guitars are Schecters...it is my opinion that Schecter makes a killer guitar for the money...tone pros bridges, grover tuners and Duncan or Duncan Designed pups make for a killer guitar add to that the good set-up (fro the factory) and you've got your self a pretty nice axe! BTW..all of the guitars listed here except on prolly won't make it over $400.00...the other one is a BIN for $450.00 and that includes shipping!

Re: which guitar would you pick of these 2?

I'd get the Schecter only because I hated the Ibanez I once had......SG470 I think?

PLUS you've played the Schecter so you know what you're getting.

Re: which guitar would you pick of these 2?

yeah, i love my ibanez guitars and when done right, they make guitars that are very sweet to play .. but i think i'd go with the schecters mentioned above for the reasons TGWIF mentioned

good luck

Re: which guitar would you pick of these 2?

I've kinda been leaning towards the schecter from the beginning. Glad most of you agree. Keep 'em coming!

Re: which guitar would you pick of these 2?

Both are great guitars for the money, you simply need to play both and see what "fits" best.

Re: which guitar would you pick of these 2?

Hey-

What kind of music do you play? Is it going to be a shredder guitar? If soloing till the cows come home are high on your list, I say go with the Schecter. It has the benefit of larger frets (easier sweep arppegios, hammer-ons, tapping), a satin finished maple neck (no slipping as you fly up and down the neck), and a slightly longer scale length (condusive to soloing- well for me at least. More room to move around).

If you're primarily playing rhythm, go with the Ibanez. It has the advantages of a slightly shorter scale length (easier chording), more sustain from the set neck, and a more solid bass tone from the mahogany/maple top body wood.

Good Luck, Bro!

whatever feels good in your hands

Re: which guitar would you pick of these 2?

A buddy of mine has an Ibanez QM320 and I was impressed with it. The setup was great, the guitar played like butta and the factory pickups sounded really good. But, I think the Schecter might just edge it out in my book by a tiny bit. I dont think you will go wrong with either.
