Which model should I get?

I was originally looking at getting the Peavey 6505+ combo 112, but I saw they do a 212 as well, which is usually from 100-300 pounds dearer. I tend to play small gigs with multiple bands, and it's definitely the tone that I want from an amp (not sure if the 212 provides similar tone, but I'm assuming it does). Will one cone be loud enough to play small gigs (bars, college performances etc)? Should I save up for the amp with both speakers, or stick with the one and get it now? Cheers guys!

The 212 will sound fuller and probably give you more sound coverage. As for which will have a better tone that's completely subjective and I'm not opening that can. Play some 112 and 212 amps and see which please your ears and suit your rig best for YOU.

I've heard/read many a dude slag the 1x12 saying that it's not the same as let's say the head as far as tone. (Obviously, but some people were fast to get rid of the 1x12) I myself have never tried one. What's the budget?

My budget was originally £500, just so I could buy the 112. I'm willing to save up more though if it's worth me getting the 212

Re: Which model should I get?

The preamp section of the 1x12 version is different and not in a good way from the 2x12 version. The 6505 2x12 version is a non "plus" model. This means its lead channel has more lower mids. The 2x12 will sound fuller, and it also will sound less buzzy/fizzy (in a good way). The 1x12 version is made in China.

I would buy the 2x12 version myself.

Either one will be loud enough for gigging, but the 2x12 will do a better job.
