Which Neck Pickup compliments JB in Bridge?

Hey guys, so I was wondering what your opinons would be on which pickup I should pair with my JB. I've tried a 59 in the neck but never really liked it, it always sounded like it had too much bass and no mids. I've also tried a Phat Cat in the neck which I like, but its just too high output and is also very muddy sounding to my ears. The guitar is an ESP Eclipse that is outfitted with a Bigsby. I play anything from blues to hard rock so it has to be versatile. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, and feel free to ask any questions if you need more info. Thanks.

more mids than a '59 but not as fat as a phat cat, and it's for classic-ish rock. that leaves you open to a buttload of choices. imo, the simplest and cheapest thing to do would be to take one of the two a2 magnets out of the phat cat and swap the a5 from the '59 into it, and also stick the leftover a2 into the '59. this way you've got two new options; a '59 with much fatter mids, smoother highs and subdued lows along with a much clearer phat cat that won't mud out.

but if you're not into the idea of swapping magnets, then you'll just have to lay down the money for a new pickup;)

well it is prepackaged with the Jazz SH-2

Not quite. The Jazz is considered by some of us to be one of the worst PU's to pair with a JB. It's bland & kind of lame, the opposite of a JB. You could select neck PU's at random & come up with something better than a JazzN.

Evan baby, you need to start swapping magnets. The '59N with an A4 has mids without a boomy bass. The Phat CatN is too dark with it's stock A2 magnets, but with an pair of A5's or an A5/A4 is much brighter and cutting, and makes a decent match for a JB. I play blues & classic rock, and it's easy to get your existing PU's to sound the way you want, by swapping magnets. Try it. It'll save you a ton of money.

I like the A2 pro with it.
Really, Find your fav neck and use it. I think matching is over rated unless your talking about output. For me anyway. I use a neck when I want THAT sound. not a different version of the bridge. Others differ though and will totally disagree. Now if you blend the neck and middle then it matters. The A2 has good mids to match it IMO

Full Shred neck.

With your non-sustain block trem you get too much boomyness on the '59 and the Jazz will be lame.

The proper cure is hex polepieces. In the FS you get two rows of them. Or put a screamin' demon into the neck, it also has that quality half-way.
