Which NECK PU in combination with the SH-6

Hello guys,

I´m new to the forum. So: HELLO TO EVERYONE!!!

I´m searching for a neck pickup for my LP Custom. At bridge position there is a SH-6. Man, what a great pickup!!

59, Pearly Gates, ...... ?

The Pickup should do some good CLEAN tones, but also a singing distorted lead tone, smooth with good sustain.

I do have a SH-2 in my SG, and although it´s a good pickup, I think I want a more "classic" tone in that neck position of my Les Paul Custom.

Which pickups would give a good combination to the SH-6?

THANKS for any HELP!!!

Regards,

With out a doubt the Alnico II pro or Pealy gates in my opinion. My personaly favorite is the Alnico II pro. It should pull off the neck tones you are looking for easily. I also want to personally welcome you to the SD forum, Hope you stick around buddy!!!

Any PAF type pickup would work for you. I matched a Pearly Gates with a Distortion and they went quite well together. The 59 is also a good match, but I prefer the eq curve and characteristics of the PG myself. The Full Shred is also a great pickup to match with a Distortion. The cleans are extremely clear and it gives some amazingly articulate lead tones even under heavy gain.

Thanks!!

@theodie: Could you describe the differences between the Alnico Pro II and the Pealy Gates??

@Travis: "Any PAF type pickup would work for you." YEAH, that´s what I wanted to hear. I heard through the sd sound samples ....... and in comparism between the PG and the 59 ....... I think that the PG sounds a little more "round", just sounds warmer. What do you think?

I´m a big fan of sd pickups since years. Over the years I tried several pickups, but the sd´s do have "a tone" ..... that´s in every pickup! They just work well!!!
