Which Pickups for my soon to be ESP custom?

Guitar will be a custom shop (Artist Series) Viper (SG style) with a slight arch top.

will be a maple neck through with ebony fretboard. Mahogany "body" with an ash top. 22 frets and 25.5 scale. String thru TOM bridge and a graphite nut.

I was thinking a 59/Custom Hybrid in the bridge and, if it is possible, a 59/Jazz Hybrid in the neck.

The finish will be a see through purple and green sunburst.

I play a heavy rock (almost metal/sludge) and my amp is a Diezel VH4.

I don't think I want high output pickups. my other Viper has a Custom 8 and I love it, but I want to try Moderate/low output (as what is recommended to use by amp designer Peter Diezel)

Blueman, correct me if i'm wrong, but by the sounds of those specs, you'll want a warmer mag in the 59/custom hybrid, because the guitar on paper sounds like it has the potentional to be very bright. I'm thinking uoa5 mag? Ash, maple and ebony are all considered very bright woods IIRC.

I agree, the guitar will probably be very bright.

I know I just want a moderate or low output pickup.

from what i've seen, diezels get really grainy and harsh with higher output or bright pickups. i would put a custom8 in it and a 59 UOA5.

That they do! Hey man! what is going on? I bought my custom (now a C8) from you haha.

you can eq the grain out pretty easily, but I want to stick with lower output pickups in this guitar for sure. I wonder how a 59b with an A8 sounds????

yea i missed it, so i bought another custom to put an A8 in. haha

i think the 59 would get really boomy with an A8. have you considered a demon or slash A2 pro? my APH-2 goes very well with higher gain if necessary. right now i have a regular A5 in my neck 59, cuz i like the glassy tone it has that way.

The Duncan tone chart makes the hybrid out to be pretty warm. It might be fine as is, though, Ive never tried it. An A2 or A5U would work if it needed to be warmer. A CC or APH2 might work nicely as well.

I haven't considered either of those. yet.

Would maybe the 59/Custom Hybrid work with a mag swap? Like a UOA5 or an A8?

depending on the guitar, the A8 can be too boomy, but a UOA5 works in almost every guitar.
