Which Tweed Fender to build?

Re: Which Tweed Fender to build?

Hey Bruce: When do I get MY Aurora????? :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I want one with strong spring reverb, 5AR4 rectifier and two 6V6's. Like an Aurora voiced Deluxe Reverb...

BTW, I wonder what most guys picture when they think Aurora? Certainly not the Aurora, Colorado we all know and "love"! :laugh2:

Lew

You STILL haven't gotten yours? :eek13: :laugh2: :laugh2:
Ok, I don't order anything until Lew gets his. I gotta start saving my pennies. :)

When I think Aurora, I think hot redhead or brunette. :D Coincidentally, the amp has the right color covering. ;)

Well see...I want mine for free or wholesale! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: That's why I have to wait so long for mine... :smack:

Yeah, well, ok. I can see that causing a delay. :) The Mrs. knows I still want one and is one of the reasons why I didn't want to spend a lot on a quick replacement when the Marshall went down. Thankfully the Vox AD50 I got is working nicely and keeping me happy until then.

I thought about going the kit route too but it would have to be a Bassman or something like it. But at the same time, I really love the voicing of the Aurora too.

Re: Which Tweed Fender to build?

Well, if I were to build I would say a deluxe. I would go with a Cannibis Rex Speaker myself, as they do really well with pedals as well.

As for Mission Amps, every contact I have had with Brice has been great. I picked up someones's 5e3 homebuilt that was put together from scrap parts. It had a funny noise in it. It was NOT a Mission kits but in his group and in email he worked with me to find the issue. I think that needs to be restated. I asked Bruce to work to repair an amp he had no part in the at all, he agreed to do it VERY reasonably but was willing to first be kind enough to help me off the clock. He worked by email and web board to help me locate the problem on this one. Bruce has been great. There have been only a few folks who have been this generous that I have encountered. I have heard nothing about his kits and seen nothing in his kits that suggest anything but quality. ,

Well, I got 28 Aurora 1x12 cabinets in about 10 days ago.
10 are the Aurora Reverb chassis cabinet, 15 are the 18 watter with no reverb and 3 are the smaller 12-15 watt, 5E3 sized cabs.
My laser cutting shop, Focused Light, was cutting the Mission logos yesterday and finishing today.
They will go to the powder coater later today or Friday morning and be cooked up soon after that.
Monday or Tuesday I should be able to pick them up and start shipping the amps.
I only have two of the reverb models built up right now but will get you one as soon as I get caught up with the others and the rest of my 5E3 and 5F4 orders.
I also need you to try out the Mission V-Lux when those cabs come in sometime in early March.
The 6L6 version should be similar sounding to a cross between a brown face Deluxe 6G3 and a tweed 5E5 Pro, but with a 12" speaker and vibrato of course.

Oh.. Lew...
Do you know if AJ is ready for his hot rodded MIG50 to be returned yet?
And have you heard from Rondo lately?

Cool! We need to get together and do some playing. Sherrie and I are going to do a set up here next month for Frozen Dead Guy Days...want to add some drums? You know, I'd rather use a pair of Mission Auroras then my Deluxe Reverbs when we start gigging this spring. Lew

Re: Which Tweed Fender to build?

Wow, looks like the inventory is about to pick up a little bit. How many of those Aurora's are already sold, Bruce?

Lew, if you start gigging with one this spring, make sure someone is recording. I gotta here it in a band setting.

We have a gig this Saturday, our first. It's gonna be a blast. With what we do, I have no doubt that either the 35 Watt or 50 Watt reverb would do the job just fine. I'd probably opt for the 35 just so I can push it a little more. ;)
