But I do like your thinking.
You want a fret rocker? Make one. It'd doesn't have to be hard steel. All you need are 3 very straight edges of different lengths.
I made mine out of a peice of pickguard material, using a fine toothed jewelers saw and finishing up with a bit of sandpaper. I even left a screw hole in it so I can hang it above the workbench.
