Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

What guitar do/did you have/had them in? What was your opinion of them?

I just bought a gold covered set on Ebay the other day. I'm going to put them in my Gibson Flying V. What's your opinion of that and how well do you think that guitar and set of pickups will work out together?

Here's the guitar they will be going in.

I have the prototype set in a Heritage 150. Love 'em. They're my favorite SD humbuckers.

I've got a Seth neck in my R8. Great pickup, warm pickup with just the right amount of quack. I had one in the bridge, but it was just TOO quacky for me in that spot. D!ck used it to great ends, it came down to a difference in style and how it interacted with the pup.

I had them in a Hamer Artist, which is a mahogany body/maple top semi-hollow. I also had a G&L Bluesboy (tele style) which had it in the neck.

My favorite pickups. Smooth and warm.

I have them in an LP, 335, & SE Santana, and another set that will probably wind up in another LP. Great PAF's. Perfect for getting that vintage 1950's vibe. And they would give you an original V sound, which to me, is much better than the ceramic PU's Gibson usually puts in them. I think it's a great idea.

I agree!

I love the seth's nowadays. I never cared much for them, but I'm starting to like 'm a lot. very clear, warm, but not as juicy or creamy or 'liquidy' as a alnico2pro. whenever I have that 'allman brother' moment, or any other '60ies rock' moment, I grab my seth-loaded lester.

I think of V's as being for blues & rock, not as metal guitars.

I had Seth's along with vintage correct pots, caps, switch and jack installed in my Epiphone Dot.
I love 'em.
I'll put this guitar up against any stock 335 made in the last twenty - thirty years.

Thanks. That's pretty much what I'm going for. I actually like the 500T in my V, but it's just too compressed or something. It's not exactly the sound I want from that guitar.

Re: Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

for me the seth bridge nailed that HFT tone by VH which i guess is a good thing since Mr VH used a original 58 gibby V with real deal P.A.F's in it!:naughty:

I take my hat off to Mr seymour duncan for making such a realistic P.A.F!
Just like goin back in time to 1957 and takin out a P.A.F from a gold top LP then comin back to 2011 and installing it in your axe!

To me they do what the Ants do but not as well.

Re: Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

They should be here today or tommorrow. I'm looking foward to installing them and cranking them up.

Re: Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

I've always wondered what a bridge Seth would like overdriven or with a little fuzz.

Re: Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

a flying V is great for metal, like an explorer ;) I grew up with V's for 'metal' (scorpions, schenker brothers, etc etc). I prefer an SG over a V for blues and bluesy rock.

Re: Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

Saw a set of these at a store here the other day. New, with gold covers.
A bit over $300 for the pair. Crazy.

Re: Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

I don't think you will be disappointed. They are great PAf style pickups. In a V it should be a perfect match.

Re: Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

I had a set in my Ibanez AS-120 semi hollow, and they were perfect in every way.
