The difference won't be night and day. And in the wrong hands, it's certainly possible to EQ a Gibson so it doesn't sound that great.

This reminds me of a good friend of mine who learned how to play guitar at the same time as me. We had an Allman Brothers cover band, and he had a tendancy to roll his tone to zero and get an ANNOYING woman tone with an epiphone sg special.
He since got a bachelors in jazz performance and plays a 339, I get smoked every time we have a jam session now as im miles behind him in skills. The guy can reharmonize any song in a modern altered format on the spot, play entire bach pieces, then lay out michael brecker sax solos with the right articulation. We both agree that guitar players are the least melodically innovative musicians compared to horn/piano players, we take cliches to the next level and keep raping them beyond the grave....

You get wonderful smooth and at the same time bluesy tones in the neck. With the Bridge you can do anything up to RnR and RnB. You certainly need overspec'd pots and decent caps to get the most out of them.
Yes they are thin compared with a Custom. You need a different attitude besides power and crunch.

Had them in my LP. replaced with antiquities. Getting the Seths reworked and then into my PRS std 22
