Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

Re: Who All Here Has Or Has Had Seth Lovers In A Guitar?

I guess he means how do they respond. I posted a thread as a tribute to seth and I'm swapping it out of neck to bridge position for that ant 2 mini tomorrow.

http://soundcloud.com/ze-quencho/insensatez so you get an idea how it is clean direct into a solid state. It's even better thru fender reverb amps, seth is one of those pickups that deserve a seat in the holy trinity of responsive/articulate pickups.

I have installed Seths in one of my Les Paul Supremes...WAAAY better than the original 490R/498Ts!!!! I love them! The guitar is actually usable for a wider range of material. The 490R/498Ts are my least favorite pickup set--they just don't go together.

I have an Antiquity set in my Honeyburst 1960 LP Classic Plus and a set of the Duncan Custom Shop 50th Anniversary A2 Seths from Musician's Friend in my HCSB 1960 Classic Plus. The Anniversary Seths are a little overwound, even hotter than the Ants. The differ mostly in the mids--the Ants have a complexity that the Seths don't have. But the Seths have a warm responsiveness that is also a joy to play.

The production Seths, the Ants, the Anniversary set--all very, very good.

The V sounds great. I've got a set of gold Seths just laying around, while I wait for an Explorer to swim by my maw...

What guitar do/did you have/had them in? What was your opinion of them?

I just bought a gold covered set on Ebay the other day. I'm going to put them in my Gibson Flying V. What's your opinion of that and how well do you think that guitar and set of pickups will work out together?

Here's the guitar they will be going in.

Jolly,

I have an identical flying V (V98) that came with a Seth Lover *neck* in the bridge. It actually sounded pretty good in that position. Ultimately I wanted something balsier, yet still clear, vintage, and articulate, which led me on a wild goose chase all summer long.

To make a long story short, I tried the Seth neck, Seth bridge, CC, C5, Custom, EVH/78, 490r, and probably some others, and I kept coming back the Seth bridge. BUT, the Seth bridge had some sort of clanky-clunk sound that I could not get rid and that bothered the hell out of me. Ultimately I put an UO-A5 EVH/78 in the bridge and called it a day.

The Seth neck that came with the guitar is now in the neck position. I changed the wiring so that I have (1) master volume, (2) tone (high cut) control for bridge, and (3) low cut for neck position.

+1 to both. Seth's in an LP are much better than a 498T/490R. And yes, the 498T/490R are one of the most mismatched PU sets around. Why Gibson puts it in so many guitars is beyond me.
