The Invader has 3 magnets, and the Detonator only has 1, like the Distortion. It kinda sits somewhere between them.
It's unfortunate that it looks exactly like the Invader, because it really should be considered it's own pickup. It's unbeatable for $30, too

i didnt like the detonator so i switched the brigde to dimebucker its a good choice since it was designed by and for the man himself and sounds really good especially wiht my zakk wylde distortion pedal

For $30, it's REALLY hard to get disappointed
I used one for almost a year, in a guitar I wanted an Invader for, and was super happy with the tone for that time.

oh crap I didn't know they were that different. I want a Detonator then not an Invader, yikes!
I used a Strat with a Detontator to record over the summer and I loved it, I figured I'd get an Invader just because it is the better line. Can I pull mags out of the Invader?

I tried Detonator in Giffin strat (Bridge), replacing SD Jazz & I'm on here to find people's opinions. It reminded me of a Gibson in ya face mid sound ACDC. Cut thro mix. BUT..I was getting low mid microphony/howl. It may have been new natural feedback response that I wasn't used too as Marshall JMP1/EL84 20/20 set up prone to this. However, I avoided pup in backed off useage. Radical sonic change!
