i heard awesome things about this pedal and how it makes everything sound bigger

but waht does it do..my internet is screwed up and im only on this page haha

so i ask

any of you mxr microamp users??

thanks!

Re: who here uses the mxr microamp???

I had one but did not like it, it adds some treble to the signal that I really disliked. I Duncan PU Booster is a vastly superior option. I love that pedal!! Much more natural sounding.

Re: who here uses the mxr microamp???

I halso had one - only sold it because i could NOT refuse the offer - and now i am getting an EHX Nano LPB1, because it ads a bit more grit to the signal than the Micro Amp did/do !

Re: who here uses the mxr microamp???

Can someone be descriptive as to (a) what it's intended to do, and (b) what it actually accomplishes for you?

Re: who here uses the mxr microamp???

They are pretty clean boosts, up to about 20dB IIRC---also work pretty good for acoustic pickups. Built like a tank; I have one in really nice shape from about 1982 that I use once in a while...I used to use it a lot more to goose up the front end of BF Fenders when I was using those amps a lot.

Re: who here uses the mxr microamp???

I have one and I think its a great pedal. Then again, different tone for different ears. Some people like it and some dont. I happen to be one of the ones that do like it :D

Although I am looking to buy the new CAE/MXR booster to compare the 2.

Re: who here uses the mxr microamp???

Just a clean boost---a friend scoped one out once and it has a nice flat response; no mid hump, no treble boost.

Re: who here uses the mxr microamp???

As mentioned it's a great clean boost. I have used mine in the effect loop and it is an awesome lead boost. If you play rock and metal etc, the mxr micro amp in the effects loop solves the running out of head room problems.

Mine added way too much treble, it was a dissapointment. Really apparent at gigging volumes.

Re: who here uses the mxr microamp???

I love my micro-amp. One note of caution with these is that they can vary in tone from unit to unit. I wouldn't call it entirely transparent. I'd say mine adds a touch of fat and treble in a good way. Just a touch - barely enough to notice, especially through processing.

I think it adds about 25 db. It will pimp slap the front end of your amp. It is intended as a simple clean boost. I use mine in a couple of ways:
#1 As a line booster when I'm using a lot of cord/pedals
#2 Usully, straight up solo boost - which is why the additional fat/treble is ok with me
#3 To slap my pro jr. pre-tube into next week! That can't be healthy.

this is how my friend Pete used his ....
the originals were one of the first clean boost pedals made, long before a lot of the newer ones
