Who makes good straps?

Hey guys, does anyone know of a good padded leather strap that isn't too terribly expensive? I had a black leather Fender strap, but I sold it because it was too wide and kept sliding off my shoulder. I'd like something that isn't too wide or too narrow, can anyone recommend a particular brand? Thanks.

Ryan

Re: Who makes good straps?

Levy's makes some really cool padded leather straps, pretty much for anything you're into. Fender has some cool ones as well. I'd say probably a 2 1/2 or 3 inch strap is what you're looking for. Unless you had a 3 inch, and that just means you're a little booger, so you need a 2 1/2.

Re: Who makes good straps?

yeah, Levy's ... even their plain 2" cloth straps are comfortable

Reunion Blues made the best straps, but now they just do gig bags :(

I know a guy with one of those straps. Reunion Blues. I dont know when he bought it, but it goes with his 61 relic strat very well. I love that guitar. That reminds me, I gotta finish relicing that body. :laugh2:

Yep, I agree with all the Levy's suggestions. I use the 2" leather model, very comfortable, don't even need the padding. Good luck.

Peace,

Check out JODIHEAD from NY ... those are excellent.
And believe it or not, the most comfortable strap I own is made out of wood!!
Check out HEARTWOODE straps for details ...

Re: Who makes good straps?

Levi for sure - I have an LP so I spent the extra $ for the the padded one and it is very comfortable (looks good too)

Re: Who makes good straps?

I have one of the Levy wide padded straps and it's great. The only problem I've encountered is that the thickness at the top end makes it tricky to install the strap part of a staplock system. After a bit of a struggle I managed to finally get the Schaller retaining nut onto its threads. With the Dunlop system I had to leave out the front washer. I now have the Dunlop system installed on a thinner strap.

Wouldn't it be cool if Seymour Duncan made a 2" webbed cotton strap with suede tips and sold it for not-too-much money?

;-)

Boy! You guys are demanding!

OK, fine.

But instead of embroidered, how about a pewter-colored metallic "badge?"

Re: Who makes good straps?

Levy and Planet waves both make great straps. If Seymour put out something I would definately check it out. :smoker:

Re: Who makes good straps?

Go on Ebay's accessories and search for leather strap, highest to lowest.
Just don't get intruigued by some of the crazy ones and end up buying one with a giant snakehead on it! :laugh2: :laugh2:
