Who uses a '59?

Hey,

Just wondering what bands/guitarsists use a '59. Im trying to decide on what combination to use,

JB or '59 - SSL6 - '59 or alnico II.

I know slash uses the alnicoII but what about the rest of them?

Which combination do you think is best?

EDIT: By the way I want alot of versitility as I will be playing alot of diifferent styles from metal to shred to emo to punk to grunge to classic rock and I will want to get some brilliant cleans aswel and I will be using a trem spacing hum in the bridge, also I willl have a choice to split the hums and tap the sc so this may effect the choice (one may sound better split than the other?)

if you want to do splitting, definately gert the JB at the bridge. I like Alnico II, so I would go with the APH at the neck. The SSL-6 would be good in the middle of those two.

If you want to cover a wide range of tones...my opinion is that lower output is better. It's much easier to add gain, compression ect with your amps and effects than it is to take it away from a pup that's too hot.

Interestingly...I recently put a 59' in the bridge of my Alvarez Scoop...my shredder guitar if you will. It sounds really, really nice there. My vote would be 59' bridge, APH neck. I'm not too famalier with singles in an H/S/H combo, so I'll leave that to others.

Why the SSL6 in the middle position? That pickup is dark and midrangey and with alot of output...I've used this pickup in the bridge position but not in the middle? I'm thinkin more on the lines of an APS or SSL1 in the middle and 2 59s?

A little off-topic, but does Slash use an APH-2 set? Or just the neck and a different pickup for the bridge?

i use a 59, but with a pearly gate, and that's not an option here

I use an 59 with an A2 in it and really dig it. I have recorded about 90 percent of my latest tunes with that pickup in a Strat. Very happy with the combo, pares up very nicely with my non master heads.

Set I believe. I've got a set in my Dean Hardtail and they just plain rock.

I have 59 set, Distortion/59, and Custom/59 sets.

About using the ssl6 over ssl1 i figure with the coil tap in the ssl6 I can make it sound close enough to the ssl1 anyway so it will be able to give me a real hot pup or a low output one aswel.

Im interested in the 59 for bridge spot on my strat,noticed on the tone chart that it has alot of bass,are they really bassy sounding?Easy to twwek?

I use a '59n(with 2 ceramic magnetrs on the bottom plate to increase the output a little) and a JB.
This combo can do anything from brilliant cleans to full metal blaze and everything in between.

I have used the 59n with a Seth Lover, DD, JB, C5, CC, Custom, PGb, 59b.. more.
It works with all of those.
