I finally went back to an Eminence Private Jack for the 1x12 cab that I use for my Ecstasy 101B. I did this at night so the volume wasn't loud at all, and the other factor is that the speaker was brand new and not broken-in. However, it sounds incredible. It's VERY similar to the Vintage 30, but has some advantages. The mid range is clearer though slightly cut back in the lower mids, and the bass is tight and detailed. At times, the V30 can be nasally and slightly harsh, but the Private Jack doesn't suffer from that at all. I think it's the perfect speaker for my 101B.
Anyway, this is my humble effort to capture the very first sounds of my freshly installed PJ. In this audio sample, I made up a lick and a riff on the spot. It goes bridge pickup lead (v30) -> bridge pickup lead (PJ) -> neck pickup lead (v30) -> neck pickup lead (PJ) -> bridge pickup chunk rhythm (V30) -> bridge pickup chunk rhythm (PJ).
This was recorded in the first five minutes after installing my Private Jack so the speaker has ZERO break-in.
